Compost, Earthworms and Beneficial Insects
San Diego County has various yard waste recycling program where compost can be purchased. Some local agencies will give free compost to school gardens. In most cases, you have to pick it up.
Check with your Master Gardener; many of them compost and can offer advice and
guidance about composting and have extra composting earthworms available. They will
also know about free compost around the county.
City of San Diego and San Diego County
Compost bin voucher programs offering compost bins at discounted rate to city/county residents. Many other cities also have discount compost bin programs.
As a city of San Diego resident you can self-load up to two cubic yards of compost or mulch for free with proof of residency from Miramar Greenery.

Resource Conservation District of Greater San Diego County
Provides technical, financial and educational assistance to help conserve, protect and restore natural resources. Check their website for plant giveaways, workshops, newsletters and the Milkweed for Monarchs program.
Solana Center for Environmental Innovation
Provides compost supplies and education for students and adults. Offers a Master Composter program.
CalRecycle
Provides environmental curriculum, "Vermi the Worm" education and school garden resources. Education and school waste reduction programs
